# Service provider and contractor access in Rekkeh

> Learn how recurring vendor passes and contractor access work in Rekkeh, including approval workflows, validity periods, renewal, and expiry reminders.

Rekkeh provides two pathways for service providers who need repeated or long-term access to your facility: recurring vendor passes and contractor access. Both require management approval, but they differ in how they are requested, approved, and maintained.

## Recurring vendor passes

A recurring vendor pass is for vendors, artisans, or delivery drivers who visit on a regular schedule. The pass is created when a resident submits a vendor request through the Resident app.

**How it works:**

1. A resident submits a vendor request, specifying the vendor name, frequency, and reason for access.
2. The request stays in a **suspended** state until estate management approves it.
3. Once approved, the vendor receives their QR and OTP credentials.
4. The pass is valid according to the frequency and validity rules set at approval, with a configurable maximum number of uses.

<Note>
  Vendor credentials are only issued after management approval. A suspended request cannot be used at the gate.
</Note>

## Contractor access

Contractor access is for construction workers, maintenance crews, or any long-term external staff who need a persistent profile in the system. Contractors are managed from the **Contractors** page in the admin portal.

**How it works:**

1. An admin adds the contractor to the Contractors page, creating a persistent profile.
2. The admin authorizes access with a validity period. The default is 60 days, but you can set any value from 1 to 365 days.
3. The contractor receives credentials they can use at the gate during the authorized period.

**Renewal and revocation:**

* **Renew:** When a contractor's access is about to expire, an admin can renew it. Renewal may require re-approval depending on your organization's settings.
* **Revoke:** An admin can revoke contractor access at any time from the Contractors page.
* **Expiry reminders:** Rekkeh sends reminders before contractor access expires, so you can renew it without interruption.

<Warning>
  Contractor access always expires on a schedule. There is no perpetual or open-ended contractor pass.
</Warning>
