How visitor passes work for gate access

A visitor pass is a single-use authorization created by a resident or an admin so a guest can enter your facility. The guest receives a QR code and an OTP fallback code by message, and they do not need to install an app to use it. The pass is verified at the gate through the kiosk or the Gate Ops app, and the final admit or deny decision is recorded there.

Create a visitor pass

Visitor passes can be created from two places, with slightly different duration options. From the Resident app: Open the app, choose the visitor option, and select a duration: 2 hours, 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, or a custom window. From the admin portal: Admins can create passes with durations of 4 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, or 7 days.

What the visitor receives

Once the pass is created, the guest receives a message containing:

• A QR code they can show at the gate
• An OTP fallback code they can read out if the QR scan fails

The guest does not need to install the Rekkeh app. They only need the message on their phone.

Using the pass at the gate

When the visitor arrives, the pass can be redeemed in one of two ways: Kiosk redemption: The visitor scans the QR code at the self-check-in kiosk. The kiosk verifies the pass and attaches it to a session. If the pass is valid, the kiosk may print a badge. Gate Ops decision: A gate operator scans the QR code or enters the OTP in the Gate Ops app. The app shows the pass details, and the operator makes the final decision to grant or deny entry. This step also records the check-in in the audit log.

Revoke a visitor pass

You can revoke a pass before it is used to prevent entry. As a resident: Open the Resident app, find the visitor invite, and select the revoke option. As an admin: In the admin portal, locate the visitor pass, select Revoke, and enter a reason. The reason is required and must be between 5 and 1000 characters.
